School Projects Project Manager

New Turn, an organisation that seeks to promote political engagement is setting up short-courses/workshops in schools around London (target audience: 16-18 years old) to introduce them to political issues and discourse. There will be three different workshops, all running simultaneously over 7 to 8 weeks starting from beginning of February to the end of March 2012. Each workshop will have a theme, and each week will see a different professional or expert in that field animate the session. The school children completing the course will receive a certificate from one of our professional partners.

The three courses we are running are:

1. Journalism (please note we are looking for Workshop Facilitators only)
2. Conflict Resolution, case study: Western Sahara.
3. Making Aid work, issues around development.

If you have a preference for one of the workshop, please let us know in your email.

This person will be in charge of the running of a particular workshop. The overall Schools Manager (Helena Vidalic) will work with you on the organising and running of the sessions, but she will be covering all three short-course/workshops so will be present at a different one each week. The PM will be responsible for the smooth-running of the weekly sessions, from collecting a speaker at the station, to making sure the content is delivered as per the programme provided by Helena.

Participants (pupils and NT helpers) will be invited to attend an event in Parliament in April celebrating the completion of the programme. All helpers will also be given a free NT membership for 2012-13 and asked to dine with a speaker of their choice over the next year and a half.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me: helena.vidalic@newturn.co.uk

We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable university students to run the workshops. If you are interested, please send a CV and a very short covering letter explaining why would like to be involved to: Helena.vidalic@newturn.co.uk
